Garden City Community College seeks a skilled and experienced Cosmetology professional who is passionate about helping students start and further their is a full-time faculty position covered by the Negotiated Agreement.
Garden City Community College is a vibrant and dynamic community college located in the heart of the rural Southwest Kansas high plains region. Officially designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution the College serves a student population which reflects the areas rich diversity. The College serves approximately 2000 students across multiple populations including on-campus online and area high schools and has a history of strong program options in both transfer and technical education. The College is located in Garden City a community with a recent history of robust population growth. Garden City has many amenities including arts and culture plentiful shopping and daily jet service to Dallas.
This position is for a full-time faculty member to teach Cosmetology courses leading toward student achievement of college certificates college degrees and industry certifications. These courses/programs may be conducted at the GCCC campus or at a business location and may be held during the day evenings and/or weekends. All candidates interviewed will be required to provide a live teaching demonstration. The college will provide support for teacher training and continued professional development. Valid Cosmetology and Cosmetology Instructor licenses are required. Support for obtaining an Instructor license is available. Compensation is based on the Negotiated Agreement where the minimum base salary (minimum qualification no years of industry experience) for a Cosmetology instructor would be $52972 for a 9-month 172-day contract. This base pay rate will be adjusted based on educational experience industry credentials and years of industry experience. Cosmetology instructors regularly receive additional compensation for overload courses and there is strong potential for additional off-contract work during the three-month summer break. These are estimates and specific placement can be discussed with the Dean of Technical Education and Workforce Development and/or the Vice President for Instructional Services.
Cosmetology instructors typically work approximately 8 hours Monday through Friday. There are some Saturdays when instructors open additional lab hours for students; these fall outside of the normal contract and are compensated separately. Additionally the regular curriculum extends into the month of June and at least one instructor receives additional compensation to teach this extended curriculum.
In addition to a 9-month 172-day contract for faculty and a substantial benefits package this position receives other benefits such as multiple holiday days. The college is closed for holidays throughout the academic year including several three-day weekends one week at Thanksgiving two weeks at Christmas. Faculty also receive a fall break and spring break off in March.

Supervision is provided by an Assistant Dean and the Dean of Technical Education and Workforce Development.
Cosmetology Instructor
This is a full-time 172-day contract position under the direction of the appropriate Division Chair and the Dean of Technical Education & Workforce Development. The primary assignment is to facilitate guide and evaluate learning that leads to licensure by the State of Kansas and employment in the Cosmetology industry.
