POSITION SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of First-Year Initiatives provides short-term high-impact support to the Student Success Center during the JanuaryJune period. This position assists with the coordination implementation and evaluation of programs that strengthen first-year student engagement belonging academic success and transition. Primary areas of responsibility include supporting Bulldog B.O.N.D.S. First-Year Experience programming early-alert follow-up and New Student Orientation planning. The role ensures the Center maintains high-quality student-centered services aligned with institutional retention and first-generation student success priorities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate day-to-day operations for Bulldog B.O.N.D.S. including mentor communication scheduling event execution and Mentor Collective platform management. Support First-Year Experience (FYE) programming through planning facilitation assistance logistics and student outreach. Assist with residence hall workshops community-building events and transition-focused engagement initiatives. Contribute to New Student Orientation planning by supporting communication logistics and alignment with FYE goals. Conduct follow-up outreach to first-year and first-generation students flagged through early-alert systems. Support assessment and data tracking for mentoring FYE programs and early-alert interventions. Assist with progress reports summaries and documentation needed for grant reporting and continuous improvement. Provide general operational support to the Student Success Center during peak times of student activity.



Qualifications

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines. Ability to engage and communicate effectively with first-year students first-generation students mentors and campus partners. Demonstrates understanding of student development belonging-building strategies and first-year transition needs. Familiarity with early-alert systems student engagement platforms or mentoring software (e.g. Mentor Collective) preferred. Competence in data tracking basic assessment processes and preparing reports or summaries. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively within a diverse academic community. Flexibility to support evening or weekend programming as needed.
