The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring aseasonal Summer Camp Counselortoengage young people who have completed grades 1-9in our fun-filled camp Summer Camp Counselor reports to the Director of Youth Programs and is based at the Milwaukee a40 hourper week role thatrunsfrom June15 August 21with trainingtaking place the week of for a rewardingseasonalrolethat makes a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and people while working alongside a supportive team apply today!
Key accountabilities:
Lead campers through games hands-on activities presentations and interactions with animals
Facilitate high-impact camp programs in alignment with organizational resources and priorities
Support youth program volunteers whoassistwith camp activities
Provide a safe interactive learning environment for campers and animals in a fast-paced environment
Follow all camp and youth programs protocols
Monitor effectiveness of camp activities and programs and work with youth programs staff on any adjustments needed
Set up and clean up camp space and classrooms
Use organizationally aligned positive behavior strategies to support youth
Qualifications:
At least 18 years old
Ability to travel to the Milwaukee Campus
Availablefor aminimumof eightof theweeks of camp and training listed above
Comfortable presenting to diverse groups of young people and communicating to a wide variety of audiences
Dedicated to providing strong customer service
Experience and ability to effectively work with young people who have completed grades 1-9 and meet them where they are
Works well with a team and can lead outlined activities with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment anddemonstrateflexibility while juggling multiple responsibilities
Comfortable handling dogs cats and small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs
Demonstrated alignment with our mission people-centered philosophy and organizational values of compassion respect and kindness; innovation; professionalism; equity; and positive approach
Ability to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work
HourlyRate:$15
