POSITION SUMMARY: The Welding Trainer is responsible for instructing welders in proper welding processes techniques and safe use of tools and equipment to meet quality standards. This role includes training employees on GMAW GTAW TipTig weld processes and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. The Welding Trainer may also assist in layout inspection and practical testing of welds as well as mentor employees at all skill levels. |
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
All Levels:
- At all times safety is the top priority while performing any part of your job.
- Execute verbal and written instructions provided by the supervisor.
- Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Train employees in the proper weld processes and techniques needed to meet internal Weld Process Specification requirements including GMAW GTAW and TipTig weld processes.
- Train employees in the safe use of various grinding tools and discs needed to correct weld defects and rework
- Train employees in the safe use of overhead cranes to move rotate and flip equipment
- Train employees in the use of measuring devices and how to layout the location of components
- Assist welders in interpreting drawings
- Responsible for completing and retaining all pertinent weld training records
- Administer practical weld tests for prospective employees.
- Train employees in the use of work instructions and ensure that trainees complete the required sign offs on the work instructions.
- Train employees in the identification and repair of weld defects.
- Train employees in the safe use of oxyacetylene torches and heat shrinking as needed to meet quality criteria.
- Must be able to train employees in the skills needed to complete pedestals simple beds and frames.
- Obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Verify that operator preventative maintenance has been completed accurately and on time.
- Perform QC inspection of completed weld projects
- Ensure that 6S activities are performed as required
- Assume the area Supervisor/Managers authority and responsibility for carrying out daily activities on an as needed basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Level 3:
- Demonstrated ability to train employees on screens optical packets and more complex food handling equipment such as cantilever frames and side discharge beds.
- Generates ECOs to correct drawing errors
- Proactively works to resolve production issues
Level 4:
- Demonstrated commitment to and responsibility for meeting the goals and objectives of Key Technology
- Demonstrated ability to train employees on complex equipment such as multi-deck graders.

- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Level 1 - 2: Three to six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- LANGUAGE SKILLS

- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
- OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Able to and previous experience in operating high bay narrow aisle forklifts and stock pickers.
