Position Summary
The Solar and Energy Efficiency Sales Specialist helps Baltimore-area homeowners take practical steps toward electrifying their homes lowering energy costs and reducing carbon emissions. Through a combination of outbound and inbound sales education and personalized advising the Specialist will connect residents with Civic Works electrification and market-rate energy services. Home energy upgrades will include rooftop solar insulation and air sealing and heat pumps.
The Specialist will guide homeowners from initial interest through project completion explaining options building trust helping secure proposals and supporting the installation process. This role blends customer service and sales with an emphasis on relationship building accurate information and helping clients make informed investments in their homes.
The ideal candidate is a persuasive communicator who thrives in a fast-paced goal-driven environment and enjoys educating customers about clean energy.
Primary Responsibilities:
I. Sales and Client Engagement
- Convert prospective clients into customers by clearly communicating the value of solar energy efficiency and electrification upgrades.
- Conduct phone email and virtual consultations to qualify leads assess homeowner needs and recommend appropriate services.
- Proactively follow up with assigned leads within 72 hours to maintain engagement and drive conversions.
- Educate homeowners on financing incentives and tax credits available for solar and electrification projects.
- Coordinate with contractors and installation partners to ensure smooth handoffs and a high-quality customer experience.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all client communications and sales activity in Salesforce.
- Meet and exceed established conversion goals while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Lead recurring solar information sessions and educational workshops on home energy upgrades providing clear and compelling guidance on available services incentives and next steps.
- Represent Civic Works at outreach events community presentations and trade shows to generate leads and build awareness.
II. Customer Service and Program Support
- Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the installation process providing updates troubleshooting issues and ensuring clients receive high-quality services.
- Follow up post-installation to ensure customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for referrals or additional upgrades.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Civic Works programs product offerings and industry trends.
- Accurately log all communication proposals and client documentation in Salesforce.
- Contribute to refining sales strategies scripts and outreach materials to improve conversion rates and customer experience.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in sales customer service and/or lead generation.
- Must have strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Google Suite and other computer programs.
- Experience in a call center CRM-based sales or energy services environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of solar home performance or electrification is a plus
- Drivers license and reliable vehicle required

- Ability to execute in a fast paced high demand metric driven call center environment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills especially by phone.

Work Schedule:
- This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to work from the Baltimore City office at least three days per week with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.
- During the first 30 days all training must be completed in the office. Additional in-office days may also be required throughout the 90-day orientation period. This schedule may be adjusted at any time based on organizational needs and could include additional in-person work requirements.
- The Solar and Energy Efficiency Sales Specialist will follow a standard business schedulegenerally 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Fridaywith reasonable flexibility to meet deadlines and accommodate personal needs. This role also requires at least one evening shift per week to support community outreach including phone-banking to reach residents who are more accessible outside regular business hours as well as attending community events and neighborhood association meetings. Comp time may be provided when work is performed outside standard business hours.
