Visions of Science is excited to offer an internship opportunity to a post-secondary student passionate about the non-profit sector marketing and communications. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in STEM Equity and uplifting the voices of youth in underrepresented communities. This role offers hands-on experience in social media coordination content curation calendar planning and non-profit marketing.
Role Overview
As a Social Media Intern you will support the communications and marketing team in the coordination curation and delivery of digital content. You will assist with social media preparation activities and contribute to the organizations overall success through various supporting tasks. This role also provides opportunities to enhance your marketing knowledge through mentorship and professional development.
Role Details
- Internship Term:
- Part-time training for two weeks in January 2025.
- Part-time hours (5- 10 hours/week) based on capacity from January to April
- Hours of Work/Schedule: Up to 10 hours per week Monday-Friday.
- Available Positions: 1
- Job Location: Fully remote (ideally within the GTA but open to other regions in Ontario)
- Reports To: Manager Communications & Digital Engagement
- Honorarium Range: $250 dependent on hours worked / week.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the communications team with day-to-day management of Visions of Sciences social platforms (e.g. Instagram LinkedIn TikTok) ensuring timely engaging and aligned content across channels.
- Assist in the curation of images for posts and video cover photos.
- Assist in content calendar management tracking upcoming and completed tasks.
- Schedule platform-specific content based on preexisting content calendars working closely with the communications team to ensure alignment of voice and branding.
- Respond to comments with preapproved responses in a timely manner to foster engagement.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure the success of Visions of Sciences social media goals and engagement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong interest in STEM and community engagement.
- Enrollment in a post-secondary program related to Communications or Marketing.
- Completion of an intro to communications or digital marketing course.
- Experience posting on and navigating a variety of social media platforms.
- Basic knowledge of social media best practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Passion for supporting underrepresented communities and advancing STEM equity.
- Ability to take initiative problem-solve and be adaptable in a dynamic environment.
- Personal access to a smartphone for posting directly to certain platforms.
