The Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center (BIETC) is looking for a highly motivated Systems Engineering Manager for Airplane Systems (IMA CCS). This position is located at Bangalore Karnataka. A successful candidate will understand the importance of collaboration as these positions will focus on working directly with the Sr. Engineering Manager to deliver Engineering statements of work to meet the organizational goals.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of systems engineers to develop and handle IMA CCS product line system requirements. Decompose aircraft level requirements and/or customer use cases to product line level i.e. equipment / systems software level requirements and establish tracing
- Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Systems Engineering
- Develop project or operational plans aligned with departments objectives. Implement plans to ensure business technical and customer requirements are achieved. Assign authority and responsibilities to employees to implement the plan. Reviews plans execution makes appropriate adjustments and resolves issues. Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
- Forecasts resource needs and make hiring decisions. Coaches counsels mentors and provide developmental opportunities and job assignments to improve employee performance and expand capabilities. Ensure employees are working effectively with all development teams. Provides on-going developmental feedback. Implement company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior safety security use of company property time charging etc.
- Provides technical direction and mentorship to teams regarding approved processes tools technology and skills for own projects or processes. Communicates the development processes (including Iterative and Agile) to employees as well as the role of the software and system engineers in these processes. Ensures workgroup products or processes meet customer company quality industry and regulatory requirements. Provides approval of workgroup technical approaches products and processes.
- Partner and engage with internal and external collaborators maintain relationships/partnerships with internal customers peers and partners to develop strategies goals and objectives that are consistent with the organizations strategy. The position will be pivotal in creating and maintaining relationships with the US-based collaborators and working closely with those collaborators in planning and forecasting activities of the team as well as reporting requirements from collaborators.
- Provide periodic updates to senior management in the form of progress reports project summaries and other related documents.
- Must develop an innovative work environment leading to identification of opportunities for improvements in product process quality and efficiency.
- Establish Point of contact for the system engineering activities for equipment.
- Develop and handle system integration tests and results. Ensure successful system integration testing before software deliveries.
- Support SRR (Systems Requirements Review) PDR (Preliminary Design Reviews) and CDR (Critical Design Reviews).
- Support System architecture development through system analysis and technical expertise.
- Ensure quality of Equipment level software requirement and software test scenarios through reviews.
BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelors degree or higher is required.
- Bachelors degree or higher is required (Aerospace Electrical Electronics & Communications Computers Science Engineering or Equivalent)
- Experience in application of SAE ARP 4754 for Systems Engineering aspects
- Exposure to SAE ARP 4761 for Safety Evaluations
- Excellent requirement writing skills.
- Support deliveries as defined in the data requirements list (CDRL) to the Boeing collaborators.
- Adapt Model Based System Engineering where applicable.
- Knowledge of DO178 DO254 DO297 DO160 standards
- Systems Thinking - Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the organization including the impact of changes in one area on another area.
- Ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans and anticipate future events.
- Analytical Skills - Skill and ability to: collect coordinate synthesize and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
- Proven Systems Engineering experience with specific involvement in multiple phases of the program life-cycle including early system design and development.
- Ability to effectively connect with engineers executive and senior-level management and non-engineering support staff to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design production and support of products services or other work is essential
- Solid understanding of model-based systems engineering is highly desired
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with Systems Engineering tools and processes.
- Experience in People Management Performance Management
- Familiarity with other various engineering fields such as electrical software and electronic systems
- Familiarity with any of the following Model Based Systems Engineering concepts/tools is highly desired - SysML CAMEO Rational Rhapsody.
Typical Education & Experience
- Bachelor Engineering degree with 12 to 16 years experience and/or Master of Engineering with 14 years of related experience in aircraft System development Validation/Verification Functional Integration and certification.
