Position Summary:

Sovah Danville is seeking a Monitor Technician to provide services to ensure a safe environment for psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit setting.

  • Performs continual surveillance of behavioral health unit monitors and operates the patient-monitoring system.
  • Monitors dining/day rooms and hallways on Behavioral Health when occupied by patients to assure patient safety in the environment.
  • Monitors patients for suspicious behavior indicating the possibility of self-harm.
  • Reports incidents utilizes nursing staff for concerns discusses recent issues and any pertinent patient details with the covering/on-coming behavioral health monitor technician.
  • Recognizes patient behaviors in the dining/dayroom and hallway environment that may result in an unsafe situation.
  • Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
  • Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patients physical mental and emotional conditions to the nursing staff.
  • Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to the supervisor.

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

RequiredCertifications/Licenses:

  • AHA BLS required.
