About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious individual to join our team as Deputy Editor (Catalysis) for our flagship journal Advanced Science. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated Advanced portfolio ambassador with an extensive global network in catalysis driving strategic initiatives that bridge groundbreaking research communities and shape how interdisciplinary science is published and shared worldwide. The Deputy Editor actively participates in the peer review process and decision-making for submitted manuscripts while ensuring adoption of best practices and the highest ethical standards in publishing.

How you will make an impact:

  • Commission high-quality papers and build collaborative relationships with leading researchers to enhance content quality and brand influence.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to grow Wileys Advanced Portfolio within catalysis globally.
  • Collaborate with the global editorial team across departments to develop the journal portfolio and to manage manuscripts submitted from related subject areas for Advanced Science.
  • Represent Wiley and the physical sciences portfolio at conferences and through in-person and virtual outreach activities at universities and research institutes.
  • Contribute to the editorial evaluation peer review and decision-making for manuscripts submitted to the journal.

What we look for:

  • PhD in chemistry chemical engineering or materials science with a focus on catalysis. Post-doctoral experience would be preferred.
  • Excellent research background and a strong understanding of recent trends and developments in the field of catalysis.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills with a flexible and innovative approach to problems and a focus on defining and achieving outcomes.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative setting and achieve results through personal influence and engagement.
  • A self-motivated diplomatic and flexible approach with outstanding organizational efficiency and time management skills and an excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal).
  • A keen interest in science and science communication and a strong desire to advocate for innovations in publishing and open research.
  • Confidence to present and represent the journal portfolio at conferences.
  • Mindset with ability to identify opportunities and convert strategic visions into actionable plans.
  • A strong understanding of scientific publishing including commissioning and the peer-review process. Prior experience in publishing editorial or science communication and understanding of Open Access workflows and Open Research is highly desirable.

The Deputy Editor is entrusted with the execution of initiatives aimed at growing Wileys Advanced Portfolio within the discipline of catalysis. With an extensive global network the Deputy Editor serves as a dedicated ambassador and advocate for Wileys Advanced Portfolio in the catalysis research community.

The Deputy Editor will concentrate on enriching the content and elevating the brand profile of Advanced Science effectively directing excess submissions to relevant clusters within Physical Sciences portfolio.

By actively engaging with research communities the Deputy Editor is committed to commissioning high-quality papers extending the brands influence and forging positive collaborative relationships with leading researchers. They approach their work with an understanding of the needs of both external and internal stakeholders driving forward initiatives that connect with top-tier research talents.

We are committed to fair transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The range below represents Wileys good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to geographic location skills and competencies.
