Mission Manager Intern, Amazon Leo

Amazon Leo is Amazons low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. The Role:
The Amazon Leo team is looking for a Technical Program Manager Intern who is interested in gaining experience in launch vehicle and dispenser interface management; launch systems integration; mission management; project management; and program management for complex multi-manifest launches.

The role will interface with cross-functional engineering and program/product management teams to manage launch campaigns interface with launch vehicle and dispenser system providers and interface with internal stakeholders delivering satellites to the launch site. In this role you will assist a Mission Manager with the following:

Drive engineering project execution throughout launch campaigns make technical trade-offs track and report on status and resolve blocking issues.
Oversee project plans for launch vehicle and dispenser system providers.
Observe launch integration activities at the payload processing facility / launch site.
Collaborate with payload processing facility stakeholders and drive requirements to closure.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders responsible for delivering satellites to the launch site and satellite handling during integration activities.
Work with satellite subsystems product/program management to ensure that Range Safety compliance is met.

You will be responsible for delivering a written presentation on a space related topic at the end of the internship using Amazons writing standards.

You must be familiar with a variety of project management tools methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project life-cycle and learn core project management disciplines including scope schedule budget resources quality and risk management reporting and metric development/tracking.

Assist with the planing and execution of efficient launch campaigns.
Assist with managing a complex schedule developed with internal and external stakeholders.
Effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Develop technical proficiency with satellite integration.

A day in the life
You will be assigned to work directly with a Mission Manager. You will shadow them at all meetings and assist with various technical and programmatic tasks. During this internship you will learn about the Kuiper constellation and how launch supports the program objectives with launch diversity and flexibility. You will select a summer project related to space and prepare and present a written document on the topic at the end of the internship. Your daily work will be at the Production Operations headquarters with day trips to other Kuiper locations as planned.

About the team
You will work with a team of professional experienced space enthusiast Mission Managers to provide an efficient launch cadence to meet Amazon Leo production rates. Collaboration with various teams in Amazon Leo is essential as we strive to innovate and make launch as routine as boarding a passenger flight.

- Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation
- Enrolled in a full time Bachelors degree program in Mechanical Aerospace Engineering (ME/AE) or related field.
- Involved in extracurricular activities at school.
- Interested in pursuing a career in aerospace.

- Currently in Sophmore or Junior year of College.
- Involved in engineering or leadership extracurricular activities.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $41.25/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $88.94/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
