Under general direction the Principal Systems Specialist plans coordinates and supervises the work of a technical unit responsible for providing functional system administration to clients employees school districts personnel and contracted agencies.

The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following

Knowledge:
  • Terminology methods practices and techniques of administration research testing and assessment of automated business systems
  • Financial recordkeeping and spreadsheet and database management
  • Processes and terminology used in the administration of business accounting or financial functions
  • Principles and practices of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Principles and practices of data validation
  • Appropriate methods of training group facilitation and instructional techniques
  • Basic arithmetic
  • Applicable federal state and local laws
  • Microsoft Office Word Excel PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Fundamental concepts of employment laws codes and regulations including EEO FLSA FMLA and Cal/OSHA; principles of progressive discipline; and applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements

Required Education and ExperienceEducation:Graduation from high school or equivalent is required.

Experience:Four years of automated business systems experience that include two years of systems processing experience entering updating or monitoring data and resolving related issues. Experience acting in a lead capacity is desirable.

Additional Requirements:College coursework in accounting business or personnel administration is desirable. A valid California drivers license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required.

Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a Performance Examination and a Structured Interview.
