Principal Systems Specialist

Under general direction the Principal Systems Specialist plans coordinates and supervises the work of a technical unit responsible for providing functional system administration to clients employees school districts personnel and contracted agencies.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
Terminology methods practices and techniques of administration research testing and assessment of automated business systems
Financial recordkeeping and spreadsheet and database management
Processes and terminology used in the administration of business accounting or financial functions
Principles and practices of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Principles and practices of data validation
Appropriate methods of training group facilitation and instructional techniques
Basic arithmetic
Applicable federal state and local laws
Microsoft Office Word Excel PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
Fundamental concepts of employment laws codes and regulations including EEO FLSA FMLA and Cal/OSHA; principles of progressive discipline; and applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements
Competencies:
Critical Thinking Analytically and logically evaluating information propositions and claims
Mathematical Facility Performing computations and solving mathematical problems
Legal & Regulatory Navigation Understanding interpreting and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
Professional & Technical Expertise Applying technical subject matter to the job
Using Technology Working with electronic hardware and software applications
Action & Results Focus Initiating tasks and focusing on accomplishment
Self-Management Showing personal organization self-discipline and dependability
Oral Communication Engaging effectively in dialogue

Project Management Planning and tracking projects to ensure they are on-time on-budget and achieve their objectives
Cultural Proficiency Modeling communications and interactions that respect and include all individuals and their languages abilities religions and cultures
Required Education and ExperienceEducation:Graduation from high school or equivalent is required.
Experience:Four years of automated business systems experience that include two years of systems processing experience entering updating or monitoring data and resolving related issues. Experience acting in a lead capacity is desirable.
Additional Requirements:College coursework in accounting business or personnel administration is desirable. A valid California drivers license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required.
Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a Performance Examination and a Structured Interview.
