English Language Teacher

This is an opportunity for current Casual Contract staff at UWA CELT to convert to a fixed term appointment.

• x4 Full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
• Base salary range: $71344 $101475 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

Within the context of the Universitys mission CELT provides and delivers accredited English language courses and pathways in a high-quality teaching and learning environment whilst providing an outstanding international student experience. These accredited programs include Language and Communication Essentials English for Academic Purposes and the Universitys direct entry English language pathway the Academic English & Study Skills Bridging Course. CELT also designs and delivers programs customised for the needs of its international partners.

About the opportunity

• You will be responsible for the implementation of the Centres range of programs; planning and modifying to suit their learners documenting coordinating and monitoring delivery monitoring student compliance and monitoring and improving student academic progress.
• Provide a memorable positive and inclusive student experience that provides students with the language ability and confidence to pursue their language goals.

About you

• Demonstrated high level of English language competence including ability to teach language skills grammar lexis and pronunciation.
• Demonstrated application of current approaches to programming and delivery of English language teaching including knowledge of and application of CELTs mission and strategic goals.
• Demonstrated strong experience in at least two areas of CELT programs: LCE EAP Academic English & Study Skills Bridging Course or Customised programs (study tours and special programmes).
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and contribute to CELTs development.
• Proficiency in a range of computing systems including Blackboard Microsoft TEAMS Intrinsiq spreadsheets internet and email.

Special Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

Relevant experience in ELICOS teaching; and

Degree and Diploma of Education with TESOL major; or Degree and Diploma in TESOL; or

Degree or Diploma (3-year minimum) with TESOL major: or

Degree or Diploma (3 year minimum) and recognized TESOL certificate.

Desirable Qualifications:

Current certification as assessor for the IELTS or

Demonstrated ability in TESOL training; or

Demonstrated experience in TESOL assessment; or Demonstrated ability in a language other than English; or

Qualifications and/or experience in teaching English language at the high school level.

• Current Working with Children Check.
