IBM Storage L3 Administrator / Engineer
Role Overview
The IBM Storage L3 Administrator is responsible for advanced management troubleshooting and optimization of enterprise storage systems. This includes IBM SAN/NAS solutions IBM Spectrum Storage DS Series FlashSystem and related technologies. The role requires deep expertise in IBM storage platforms strong problemsolving skills and the ability to resolve complex issues independently while ensuring high availability performance and data security.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L3 support for escalated incidents across IBM storage environments.
- Manage and maintain IBM SAN/NAS systems DS Series FlashSystem and Spectrum Storage solutions.
- Perform storage provisioning zoning LUN management and replication setup.
- Conduct performance tuning capacity planning and optimization of storage infrastructure.
- Implement backup disaster recovery and highavailability solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to storage connectivity multipathing and clustering.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell Bash Python or Ansible.
- Collaborate with infrastructure database and application teams to ensure seamless storage operations.
- Lead root cause analysis for critical incidents and document resolutions.
- Maintain knowledge base and documentation for configurations processes and troubleshooting guides.
Required Skills & Experience
- 712 years of experience in enterprise storage administration with strong L3 expertise.
- Handson experience with IBM DS Series FlashSystem Spectrum Virtualize SAN Volume Controller (SVC).
- Strong knowledge of storage protocols (FC iSCSI NFS CIFS/SMB).
- Expertise in storage replication snapshots and disaster recovery strategies.
- Experience with storage monitoring tools (IBM Storage Insights Spectrum Control Nagios SolarWinds).
- Familiarity with cloud storage integrations (Azure AWS GCP).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation for storage operations.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts multipathing and server integration.
- Ability to lead critical incident resolution and mentor junior administrators.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: IBM Certified Specialist Storage Solutions IBM Spectrum Storage certifications.
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware HyperV KVM) integrated with IBM storage.
- Exposure to softwaredefined storage (SDS) and hybrid cloud storage.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident problem and change management.
