Sheet Metal Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace Structures)

Location: Bangalore India (On-site)

Department: Engineering & Manufacturing Aerostructures

Primary Customer: AIRBUS

Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent

Experience Level: 515 years (multiple positions)

The Company: An expanding aerospace structural manufacturer establishing a Sheet Metal Engineering Department to support AIRBUS programs and ramp up industrial capabilities in India.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Read interpret and analyze AIRBUS drawings specifications AIPI and ABD documents.

- Define and optimize manufacturing process plans for bending forming press operations heat treatment and mechanical assembly.

- Create detailed process sheets operation sequences cycle times tooling requirements and shop floor instructions (SOPs work instructions).

- Define validate and accept tooling fixtures and checking tools; apply DFM/DFA principles.

- Contribute to PFMEA Control Plans APQP and associated industrial documentation.

- Ensure compliance with AIRBUS standards EN9100 and AS9100-related documentation; prepare FAI/AS9102 packages and PAP/DMR files.

- Support production ramp-up provide day-to-day shopfloor support train operators/supervisors.

- Lead continuous improvement projects (Lean Kaizen SMED) implement KPIs (OEE scrap rate) and support quality nonconformity resolution (QRQC 8D).

Requirements:

- 515 years experience in aerospace sheet metal or high-precision metal fabrication.

- Strong expertise in bending hand forming press operations cold working heat treatment redressing and mechanical assembly.

- Solid knowledge of aerospace materials (Al Ti stainless steel) and inspection methods (CMM gauges).

- Experience with AIRBUS documentation (AIPI ABD) and AS9102 FAI requirements.

- Proficiency in CAD/3D tools; CATIA V5/V6 preferred.

- Familiarity with PFMEA Control Plans APQP MSA/SPC; ERP/MES (SAP Solumina Delmia 3DExperience) desirable.

- Bachelor or Masters in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Metallurgy or equivalent.

- Professional English; experience with international/EuropeIndia projects or AIRBUS suppliers is an advantage.

- Strong documentation discipline problem-solving training/leadership skills and ability to work in multicultural teams.
