Millennium Space Systems (MSS) a part of Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Propulsion Technician Senior - Second Shift to support the Manufacturing team in El Segundo CA!
Job Summary
The Propulsion Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in support of fabrication integration and test of space flight systems and support equipment. This role requires the ability to work the second shift.
This positions internal job code is Propulsion Subsystem Manuf Tech Senior. Our team is currently hiring for Grade 24.
Position Responsibilities:
Weld assemble install test route/terminate/stake/wrap thermistors heaters nonflight thermocouples and heaters on spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints engineering drawings and specifications and written assembly integration and test procedures
Visually inspect propulsion assemblies to drawings engineering specifications and written assembly and test procedure
Operate various materials handling equipment including forklifts overheads cranes aerial lift equipment flight vehicle and sub-assembly transportation equipment truck/tractor trailer combinations and other GSE as required
Travel maybe required to support operations identified by program being supported
Capable of operating a wide range of tools. Including but not limited to orbital tube welding machines tack welding machines drill press grinders power and hand tools
Interface and /or works closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering Manufacturing Materials Procurement and Shipping personnel on procedural issuers involving design methods tooling cost and other areas involved in the control of product quality
Support in areas defined by Millennium Space System Leadership as business needs require
Crosstrain / mentor new hires
Other duties as assigned
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is Person includes US Citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in propulsion assembly on high reliability products (preferably aerospace products)
Minimum 1 year experience of orbital tube welding
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to interpret drawing schematics harness wiring diagrams internal and external specifications
Experience using inspection tooling (e.g. calipers micrometers DMM depth gauges etc.)
Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail
Ability to lift-up to 35 lbs
Experience with heater thermistor installations
Experience with using various hand tools and power tools
Experience mixing epoxy materials
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Proficient with Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5 years of Aerospace experience
5 years of orbital tube welding experience
2 years performing thermal system component installation in aerospace
2 years of harness assembly and routing
