Job Description:
A Production Manager in a pipe milloversees all manufacturing activities to ensure products are delivered safely on time and within quality standards while optimizing costs.
Core Responsibilities
- Production Planning & Execution:Develop daily weekly and monthly production schedules. Ensure output targets are met by managing machine allocation and manpower.
- Process Management:Monitor mill performance across forming welding (ERW/HFW/SAW) sizing and finishing processes. Troubleshoot technical issues and manage equipment maintenance (preventive and breakdown).
- Quality Assurance:Ensure pipes comply with customer and industry standards such asASTM ASME IS or EN. Coordinate with QA/QC for third-party inspections (TPI) and testing.
- Cost & Waste Control:Implement cost-reduction strategies for materials labor and energy. Minimize scrap rework and rejection rates.
- Safety & Compliance:Enforce health safety and environmental (HSE) regulations maintaining a culture of safety through regular meetings and SOP adherence.
- Team Leadership:Supervise train and evaluate supervisors operators and technicians. Manage shift planning and conflict resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Education:Bachelors degree inMechanical Metallurgical or Industrial Engineeringis standard. Senior roles may require a Post-Graduate Diploma in specialized fields like Plastic Testing (for PVC/HDPE plants).
- Experience:Typically5 to 15 yearsin pipe or tube mill operations.
- Technical Skills:Deep knowledge ofERW (Electric Resistance Welding) extrusion (for PVC/HDPE) or seamless pipe manufacturing. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP Oracle) and Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma is highly preferred.

- OEE(Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
- Scrap/rejection rates
- Safety incidents (e.g. LTI - Lost Time Injury)
- On-time delivery performance
