The Role: Assistant General Counsel Employment Law - Mobility

The Team: Join a best-in-class global legal team committed to delivering timely practical and actionable advice to advance our business and safeguard our reputation people and assets. This position reports directly to the Associate General Counsel Corporate & Securities who reports to the Chief Legal Officer of Mobility.

Responsibilities and Impact: The Assistant General Counsel Employment is responsible for supporting a business of approximately $1.8 billion in revenue and 3500 employees world-wide providing legal and strategic counsel and risk management advice to senior leadership and People team colleagues on a wide variety of employment matters. This leader will play a critical role in supporting transformation and growth first as the business becomes an independent public company and second in its near- and long-term growth initiatives.

  • Design implement and refine best-in-class employment-related practices policies and guidelines
  • Serve as a business-oriented senior legal advisor and core member of the functions leadership team counseling on issues of significant importance to the company

Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical and strategic legal counsel and risk management advice to senior leadership and People team colleagues on a wide variety of employment matters in a manner that is consistent with the Companys values and goals.
  • Advice ranges from recruiting compensation performance management separations internal investigations agreements leaves of absence discrimination harassment diversity and inclusion workplace privacy wage and hour compliance restrictive covenants reasonable accommodations employee classification immigration mergers and acquisitions labor matters and general employment risk management.
  • Participate in and provide leadership on efforts to design implement and refine best-in-class employment-related practices policies guidelines tools programs and forms that align with the companys employee engagement strategy values and business goals
  • Represent and defend the company as necessary in employment disputes including lawyers letters and administrative charges.
  • Manage outside counsel as necessary for employment litigation.
  • Manage and oversee outside counsel in the provision of advice in jurisdictions outside of the United States including Works Council matters.
  • Prepare and conduct regular employee and management trainings on relevant matters and managing company training programs in conjunction with the People team.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of legal and regulatory developments and enforcement trends at a state and federal level and globally in conjunction with outside counsel and People team members.
  • Manage Outside Counsel driving efficiency and scale consistent with organizational demands.
  • Provide substantive support for the rest of the Legal team as needed including on strategic transactions.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $233000-$298000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individuals geographic location as well as experience level skill set training licenses and addition to base compensation this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. Basic Required Qualifications:

  • 12 years of relevant experience gained at law firm and in-house (at a publicly traded company) including experience building and implementing public company processes policies and governance.
  • JD or LLM from an accredited law school and maintain active bar membership in at least one US state.
  • Proven capability to manage high-volume complex environments with sound judgment and inclusivity and manage emotions to achieve optimal business outcomes. Able to effectively pivot direction and collaborate across teams to meet strategic initiatives.
  • Exceptional business judgment and legal issue identification skills coupled with strong problem-solving abilities. Adept at articulating business needs and defining actionable strategies. Actively seeks input from diverse sources to ensure engagement and influence stakeholder buy-in at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated passion for the business. Provides clear concise advice and creative solutions where necessary on established timelines to meet business needs that appropriately manage risk.
  • Operates autonomously while also being a collaborative team player who brings a positive can do attitude to the workplace. Works effectively with other members of the Legal team internal clients and cross-functional organizations to influence and develop strategic initiatives.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful track record of in-house or similar advisory experience.
  • J.D. with exceptional academic credentials.
  • Experience with change management.
  • Experience leading or supporting transformation initiatives or high-growth environments.
