Your opportunity

Join our WHS & Well-being Team in creating safer workplaces and supporting wellbeing across Mission Australia.

As a Work Health Safety Officer you will play a key role in ensuring our people are safe healthy and supported every day. This position provides vital operational and administrative support to our WHS & Wellbeing team contributing to projects maintaining accurate records and promoting a proactive safety culture. Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Assist the WHS & Wellbeing Team Leader with the execution of projects and plans.
• Provide administrative and operational support to the WHS team and Wellbeing Specialist ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
• Update and maintain records and databases in line with Mission Australia policy.
• Maintain and update the WHS intranet page as required.
• Report on compliance of incidents hazards and workplace inspections in the Risk and Incident Management System (RAISE).
• Assist in developing and reviewing safe work procedures and WHS policies in line with standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote a proactive safety culture.

Requirements for success

• Formal qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (Cert IV WHS highly desirable)
• Previous experience as a safety champion or Health and Safety Representative
• Strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation
• Proven ability to provide administrative and project support
• Excellent planning time management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities effectively
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders

Before starting work with us you will need to undertake a national police history check qualifications and referee checks and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
