Job Summary
Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Emergency Department (ED)
Location: Hackensack NJ
Assignment Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift
Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts
Shift Time: 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
Total Hours: 36 hours/week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: 3 out of 6 holidays
On-Call: Not required
Floating: Within facility to like units only
Position Overview
A high-volume fast-paced emergency department is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN). The ideal candidate is confident in managing high patient acuity performing rapid assessments and delivering safe timely care in a busy emergency setting. This unit operates with 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratios and requires strong prioritization and critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities
Perform rapid triage and assessment of patients presenting with acute medical surgical and trauma-related conditions
Deliver comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
Administer medications IV therapy blood products and emergency treatments
Monitor cardiac rhythms vital signs and patient responses to interventions
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to stabilize and treat patients
Accurately document assessments interventions and outcomes in the electronic medical record
Provide patient and family education and emotional support during emergency situations
Float within the facility to comparable emergency or acute care units as needed
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 18 months of Emergency Department nursing experience
Recent ED experience within the past 6 months required
Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage high-acuity patients
Proven ability to function effectively in a high-volume emergency department
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Required Certifications & Licensure
Active New Jersey RN license or multi-state compact license
BLS (AHA)
ACLS
PALS
NIHSS
Telemetry competency
4-hour Stroke CEU (required)
