BGMU is accepting applications for the position of Facilities Locator in the Electric Division through Monday February 9 2026. The full-time position will be scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 7:30an to 4:30pm with rotating after-hours on-call work. The objective of this position is to protect underground facilities by locating water wastewater electric and fiber facilities as requested by various customers. This job requires significant physical exertion and the candidate must successfully pass BGMUs physical demands testing. The essential duties of this position are as follows:
- Locates water wastewater electric and fiber facilities within allotted time.
- Maintains an effective records system for BUD (Before You Dig or Kentucky 811) requests.
- Utilizes iPad to access utility maps needed for locates.
- Collects data and prepares documents as instructed.
- Assists the Engineering Department in additional related tasks as needed including line location mapping and reading blueprints.
- Make simple measurements and computations.
- Maintain good public relations at all times.
- Educate the public on BUD procedures.
- Complies with safety program regarding use of PPE (personal protective equipment) when working near electrical equipment water and/or wastewater.
- Additional work and/or training outside normal work hours may be required.
Other Skills and Qualifications: This individual must be able to acquire knowledge of BGMU policies and knowledge of the BGMU service area. Requires a basic working knowledge of mathematical principles and practices. Must employ safe driving practices and obey laws regulating the operation of motor vehicles. Must have the ability to receive and carry out oral and written instructions and perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy. Must be able to communicate effectively work cooperatively with others and maintain good relations in all dealings with employees customers and the public. Must have basic knowledge of computers including Microsoft Word and Excel software and a general understanding of AutoCAD and GIS.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or graduate equivalency.
- Two (2) years of experience in utility operations (electric or water/wastewater).
- Valid Kentucky drivers license.
- Warren County residency within 6 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of college training in GIS and/or engineering.
