As a Columbia River Fishery Sampler (Biological Science Assistant) for the Ocean Salmon & Columbia River Program (OSCRP) in Astoria Oregon you will:

• Collect catch and effort data from recreational fisheries on the lower Columbia River

• Collect information on commercial fisheries

• Participate in commercial fishery monitoring test fishing hatchery sampling coded-wire tag recovery and tagging projects

This position requires a Boater Education Certificate obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board within the first 30 days of appointment.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:

• Experience collecting and recording data

• Experience collecting biological samples

• Experience identifying adult fish species particularly salmonids

• Field survey experience

• Boating experience

• Anyone who has or is in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences
