This is a senior mechanical engineering role for someone who can design lead mentor and problem-solve without needing guardrails. Youll work on mission-critical and highly technical projects provide technical direction to teams support client relationships and take real ownership of project outcomes. This role sits just below (or at) Engineer of Record level depending on licensure and experience.

Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer III is responsible for independently developing mechanical system designs overseeing quality control mentoring engineers and designers and supporting both project delivery and business development efforts. This role requires deep technical expertise strong judgment and the ability to lead projects and people while coordinating closely with leadership and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Technical Leadership
- Design HVAC and mechanical systems for mission-critical telecommunications commercial and government projects
- Independently develop design concepts with senior-level quality control oversight
- Perform and review heating cooling ventilation exhaust and energy calculations
- Design ductwork hydronic and fuel oil systems per firm standards
- Size ductwork and piping using established engineering guidelines
- Perform energy modeling for code compliance and LEED certification
- Apply and interpret industry-standard and local building codes
Production Quality & Coordination
- Produce and review construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit
- Perform quality control reviews of drawings and specifications
- Coordinate designs across architectural civil electrical and technology disciplines
- Identify coordination issues and proactively resolve them
- Develop technical reports studies flow diagrams and narratives
- Document basis of design equipment schedules and system requirements
Construction Administration
- Review submittals RFIs and change orders
- Perform site visits field observations and punch list documentation
- Collaborate with the Engineer of Record or act in support of that role
Leadership Mentorship & Business Support
- Provide technical direction and mentoring to engineers and designers
- Assist with training and professional development of staff
- Assist in maintaining and developing client relationships
- Support development of project proposals and cost estimates
- Identify process improvements and communicate recommendations to leadership

Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 7 years of experience in an MEP consulting environment
- Advanced HVAC and mechanical systems design expertise
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Revit Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
- Expert-level experience with load and energy analysis software (HAP Trace 700 or equivalent)
- Strong command of mechanical and energy codes
- Proficiency in construction cost estimating (MEANS)
- Experience with LEED and WELL sustainability standards
- Ability to independently lead design efforts and mentor others
- Strong client-facing communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred
- Experience serving as Engineer of Record or supporting that role
- Proven experience leading teams and managing complex stakeholders
