Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Biodiversity Manager to lead our corporate advisory this consulting-based role you will guide major industrial clients through the complex landscape of nature-related financial risks and ecological stewardship. You will be the pivot point between technical ecological data and C-suite strategy helping heavy industry clients transition from compliance to "Nature Positive" using global frameworks like TNFD and SBTN.
Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate Risk Assessment & Strategy
- Risk Profiling: Lead comprehensive biodiversity risk and opportunity assessments for clients in the heavy industry sector (mining energy manufacturing infrastructure).
- Framework Implementation: Guide clients through the adoption of TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) LEAP approach and SBTN (Science Based Targets Network) methodology to set measurable nature targets.
- Strategic Planning: Design and implement corporate Biodiversity Strategies that align with global goals (e.g. Global Biodiversity Framework) and specific business objectives.
2. Technical Management & "No Net Loss"
- Biodiversity Management Plans (BMPs): Develop site-specific and corporate-level BMPs. rigorously applying the Mitigation Hierarchy (Avoid Minimize Restore Offset) to achieve No Net Loss or Net Gain outcomes DIRO
- Data Analysis & Tooling: Utilize industry-standard tools to screen portfolios and sites for biodiversity interfaces.
- Required proficiency: ENCORE IBAT STAR WWF BRF ArcGIS and similar tools
- Impact Metrics: Develop KPIs to monitor biodiversity performance and ecosystem services dependencies within industrial supply chains.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Social License
- Community Liaison: Design engagement strategies that respect the nexus between biodiversity and local communities/Indigenous peoples. Manage expectations regarding ecosystem services and land use.
- Capacity Building: Conduct workshops and training for client operational teams to ensure biodiversity initiatives are understood and implemented on the ground.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Education: Masters degree or PhD in Environmental Science Ecology Conservation Biology or a related field.
- Framework Fluency: Deep practical knowledge of TNFD SBTN A3RT NNL Natural Capital Accounting.
- Tool Mastery: Hands-on experience with ENCORE IBAT STAR and WWF BRF. (Experience with GIS software is a strong plus).
- Ecological Accounting: Proven track record in calculating biodiversity metrics for No Net Loss / Net Positive Impact calculations.
Industry Knowledge
- Heavy Industry Experience: Minimum 5-7 years working with or consulting for sectors such as Mining Oil & Gas Cement Heavy Manufacturing or Utilities.
- Process Understanding: Ability to understand industrial process flows and identify specific pressure points on nature (water usage land conversion pollution vectors).
Soft Skills & Consulting Acumen
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills for managing diverse stakeholder groups (NGOs investors local communities).
- Communication: Ability to translate complex ecological data into clear business cases for executive decision-making.
- Project Management: Experience managing multiple client accounts timelines and budgets simultaneously.
Required Skills:
Bachelors Degree (Graduation) 1 Year of experience as an Executive Assistant or in a similar role. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook). Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
