Why is this role important
As a Product Owner on the Experience Platforms Apps team you will play a critical role in turning platform strategy into shipped high-quality product capabilities that power CBCs mobile experiences. Our app platform underpins audience-facing products used by Canadians every day. The work you lead enables other product teams to move faster deliver consistent experiences and focus on storytelling rather than rebuilding the same foundations.
You will be embedded with an agile delivery team working on shared app platform capabilities including our ongoing app platform transformation to a Clean Architecture with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) shared libraries. Your role ensures that platform investments translate into tangible outcomes: faster delivery reduced rework improved performance and a more stable foundation for future innovation across iOS and Android.
This role is essential to maintaining momentum through a complex replatforming effort while continuing to support active feature development across the app ecosystem.

How you will make an impact:
As a Product Owner you will be accountable for maximizing the value delivered by your team by translating strategy technical direction and stakeholder needs into clear actionable work for your delivery team. As a founding member of this team you will have a unique chance to help establish its processes culture and operational dynamic.
You will:
Own and continuously refine the team backlog ensuring work is well-defined prioritized and aligned to platform objectives and business outcomes.
Partner closely with Engineering to break down complex technical initiatives (including re-architecture work) into incremental shippable milestones.
Balance short-term delivery needs with longer-term platform health helping manage technical debt while enabling product teams to continue iterating on their experiences.
Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact between the delivery team the Senior Product Manager and dependent product teams.
Ensure that platform capabilities are usable adoptable and well-documented so that downstream teams can realize their value quickly.
Contribute to continuous improvement in delivery practices quality and team effectiveness.
Your impact will be felt not only in what your team ships but in how effectively other teams at CBC can build on top of the app platform.
Key first year outcomes you will achieve:
You are a trusted Product Owner for your delivery team consistently providing a well-groomed prioritized backlog that enables predictable delivery.
The Apps Platform team is shipping incremental platform improvements that support the broader app transformation without blocking experience teams delivery.
Replatforming work is broken into clear phases with measurable progress allowing parallel feature development to continue.
Stakeholders and dependent teams have clarity on what the app platform provides how to adopt it and whats coming next.
Platform health indicators (delivery speed stability developer feedback) show measurable improvement.
You have established strong working relationships with engineering QE design and peer Product Owners contributing positively to CBCs product culture.
What you bring to our team:
35 years of experience as a Product Owner Product Manager or in a similar product delivery role
Strong product ownership mindset with clear accountability for delivery outcomes
Hands-on experience working with mobile app teams (iOS and/or Android); platform or shared-services experience is an asset
Ability to translate platform strategy and technical direction into clear actionable backlog items
Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments including sprint planning backlog refinement and retrospectives
Proven experience writing high-quality user stories acceptance criteria and supporting technical documentation
Strong prioritization skills balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term platform health
Comfort working in technically complex and evolving problem spaces
Ability to break down large ambiguous initiatives into incremental shippable work
Collaborative stakeholder-aware approach with strong communication skills
Familiarity with product and delivery tools such as Jira Confluence and cross-functional collaboration tools
Nice to have:
2 years of Data Engineering or Software Development Experience
Experience working on large-scale replatforming or modernization initiatives.
Exposure to Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) Clean Architecture or shared mobile libraries.
Understanding of quality engineering practices automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience working in media content or audience-focused digital products.
Familiarity with digital analytics or performance measurement tools used in mobile apps.
