What youll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Academic Chair Nautical Institute you will:

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day administrative and project support duties of the Apaqt Project ensuring that daily activities of the project are organized efficiently. The Apaqt Project supports women and MiKmaq/Indigenous students training for careers in the Marine Industry.
  • Schedule project-related meetings record meeting minutes create project-related documents and reports and maintain effective budget/cost maintenance tracking.
  • Participate in planning for successful achievement of the overall goals of the Apaqt project and support the Strait Area Campus Principal and the Academic Chair Nautical Institute demonstrating independence and taking initiative in anticipating needs while juggling multiple and competing priorities.

This position will be based at the Strait Area Campus and will organize initiatives with various NSCC departments and in various communities in Nova Scotia.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business or Administrative Professional/Office Administration. High school completion with significant years of administrative experience (10) will also be considered.

  • You have a minimum of three (3) years (full-time equivalent) of progressive experience supporting managers in a post-secondary environment.

  • Experience with coordination of projects specifically with research tracking and analysis.

  • Experience with post-secondary enrollment and registration processes.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.

  • Experience working with Mikmaq communities staff and students is an asset.

  • Knowledge of the commercial Marine sector is an asset.

  • Experience with Cognos is an asset.

  • Excellent computer skills with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft suite of Office software and Outlook.

  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.

  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students is an asset.
