    TITLE: PK-1 Behavior Support Specialist
    DEPARTMENT: School Campus as assigned
    REPORTS TO: Principals

    HIRING SPECIFICATIONS (HS1-22):
    Demonstrated Experience or Willingness to Acquire Skills
    1. Assist and support classroom teachers with educational activities
    2. Take direction and guidance from teachers and building principals
    3. Follow behavior management plans for individual students using best practice strategies
    4. Maintain students daily behavior/academic documentation
    5. Perform personal care duties for students with disabilities as needed.
    6. Prepare and supervise students in bus loading/unloading.
    7. Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly instructional environment.
    8. Supervise lunchroom playground halls classroom and other assigned areas.
    9. Clarify and reinforce teacher directions
    10. Participate in IEP and other meetings as required.
    11. Assist with instruction in the community setting as required
    12. Assist students with assignments
    13. Prepare attendance cards and reports
    14. Under teacher direction implement specific strategies to maintain/increase appropriate behavior and deescalate unexpected behaviors
    15. Supervise students in community/work settings
    16. Assist and support classroom teachers with educational activities
    17. Lift carry and correctly position students with physical disabilities
    18. Represent Fairfield Community Schools effectively in the community state and nation

    ABILITIES (A1):
    This position will require physical demands that include constant standing walking reaching pushing/pulling lifting under 70 pounds and carrying items at least 35 feet. There will be frequent climbing of stairs and manual dexterity tasks. There will be occasional sitting and vehicle driving. The working conditions will be constantly inside/outside with extremes of temperature and humidity.

    KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION (KE1-4 and KED1-4):
    Required:
    High School Diploma or G.E.D.
    Ability to relate to students with disabilities.
    Ability to carry out duties cooperatively with others
    Effective oral and written communication skills.

    Desired:
    Previous classroom teaching experience
    Advanced degrees/certifications as appropriate to the position
    Successful work or volunteer experience with populations with disabilities
    Supervisory experience with school age children
