NEEDED: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
LOCATION: 13777 Air Expressway Blvd. Victorville CA 92394
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week 8 hours per day Monday Friday as needed between 6:00 AM 10:00 PM for 120 workdays annually. Total: 960 hours annually
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be certified to practice medicine in the State of California.
- Must have at least one or more years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
- Possess and submit evidentiary documentation of graduation from an accredited school.
JOB DUTIES: Shall be responsible for but is not limited to:
- Provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal ethical and institutional standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff.
- Perform Advance Practice Practitioner duties within the scope of the current licensure
- Administer medications as prescribed i.e. by mouth intravenously intradermally subcutaneously or intramuscularly
- Assist with distribution of medications at pill line
- Monitor and evaluate the response to therapy
- Perform history and physicals
- Provide diagnostic therapeutic and preventive health care services for the inmate
- Take medical histories examine patients order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays
- Maintain accurate logs of all reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons and JACHO policy Screen laboratory tests/results for normal/abnormal lad values and notify the physician or physicians
- Ensure all sharps are secured accounted for stored and disposed of according to institutional and national policy
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
- Ability and skill to operate EKG
- Make a diagnosis provide treatment plans and prescribe medications
- Clinically manage injuries by suturing splinting and immobilizing
- Attend to medical emergencies
- Record progress notes recommend clinically necessary outside consultation instruct and counsel and order or carry out therapy
- Emergency consultation to be performed in instances where deemed necessary.
- Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits
- Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning instituting evaluating and revising program plans
- Assist in determining conditions resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services
- Disseminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical emotional or mental problems
- Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
- Provides a wide range of emergency services in the absence of the physician
- Perform duties as required but accept only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation training experience and licensure laws
