Our seasonal Event Staff play an integral role in ensuring that our visitors enjoy our extraordinary the change to warmer temperatures we experience an influx of visitors of all ages and backgrounds who want to explore and be inspired by our properties. Sandy beaches wooded trails cultural gardens historic homes community supported agriculturethere are many ways for visitors to discover and explore The Trustees and just as many opportunities for seasonal employees to make each visitors experience special.

The Role:

AsanEvent Assistant you will play a crucial role inrepresentingthe venue during weddings and events providing superior customer service to clients guests and vendors and ensuring regulation rules and standards aremaintainedfor the protection of the Long Hill house and gardens throughout the event.

The ideal candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude excellent communicationskillsand a passion for creating memorable experiences.

This isa great jobfor someone with weekend availability and perfect for a student or other professional seekingpart-time extrahours. The main events season is from May toSeptemberand hours are based on events scheduled primarily Friday-Sunday3:30PM-11:30PM

Specificallyyoull:

  • Greetand direct clients and guests upon arrivalprovide assistanceas needed and ensure a smooth and seamless experience throughout their event.
  • Attend toany problems or complaints that may arise during the event.
  • Professionally and kindly ensure policies arefollowedby clients guests and vendors.
  • Assistwith event set up and various tasks at the discretion of the Events Manager.
  • Understand that the protection ofthe LongHill historichouseand gardens is of theoutmostimportance.
  • Review catering responsibilities with catering manager before the event making surechecklist is completed and signed at the end of the event.
  • Monitor accessibility andsafeguardthe historic house during the event.
  • Monitor event activities and decibel levels throughout the event to ensure compliance with venue policies and procedures.
  • Maintain restroom supplies cleanliness and function throughout the event.
  • Manage lights in the tent as needed turn on lights for pergola walkways and parking lot at dusk.
  • Oversee the clean-up and restoration of the property at the events conclusion ensuringtimelyend of event in keeping with contract agreementsand sound ordinance regulations.
  • Make sure wedding rooms areclearedof personal belongings and keep track of any items left behind and stored forpickup the next day.
  • Ensure the property is fully closed and locked up after the event.

This is a limited-term nonexempt position (8-24hours/week) reporting directly to the Engagement Manager.



Requirements

WhatYoullNeed:

Skills and Experience:

  • Previousexperience in hospitality or customer service is a plus.
  • A very strongcommitment to punctuality andsenseof responsibility.
  • Positive outgoing friendlydemeanorand excellent customer service skillsto interact with guestsvendorsand event staff effectively.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with diplomacy and composure.
  • Able toproblem solveand think on your feet to remain calm and function when working in challenging situations.
  • Able to withstand thephysicaldemands including bending walking constantly moving and the ability to stand for 8-10 hours in outdoor conditions.
  • Able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • 1 prior year of related work experience isrequired.
  • Musthave a high school diploma or GED.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Availability to work weekends and holidays in the summerseasonaccess to reliable transportation isrequired.
  • Previousexperience working in afast-paced team-centered environment is preferred.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
  • A valid drivers license as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees driving needed
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
