Job Summary
Job Description:
A Shift Incharge (SMS - Steel Melting Shop)manages all production and operational activities during their shift ensuring safety quality and output targets are met by supervising staff controlling process parameters troubleshooting issues like EAF/CCM breakdowns maintaining records and coordinating with maintenance/quality teams to keep the steel plant running smoothly. Key duties include manpower allocation enforcing safety protocols (likeTPM) managing resources and ensuring adherence to SOPs for optimal efficiency and minimal downtime in the furnace/casting area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Oversight:Supervise daily production plans monitor process parameters (e.g. furnace temp material flow) and adjust as needed for efficiency and quality.
- Team Leadership:Manage motivate train and guide shift operators and workers to achieve targets.
- Safety & Compliance:Enforce strict safety protocols (HSE) conduct inspections and maintain a safe working environment addressing hazards immediately.
- Quality Control:Ensure products meet quality standards conduct checks and implement corrective actions for deviations.
- Troubleshooting:Quickly identify and resolve operational issues equipment breakdowns (EAF CCM cranes) and production bottlenecks.
- Coordination:Liaise with maintenance quality control and other departments for seamless operations.
- Reporting & Documentation:Maintain accurate shift logs production reports safety records and maintenance details.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong leadership communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of SMS operations (EAFLadle FurnaceCCM) and safety regulations.
- Familiarity withTotal Productive Maintenance(TPM) principles is a plus.
- Relevant diploma or degree in engineering/metallurgy is often required.
