POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools Dr. Pascal Mubenga is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid New York State teaching certificate. Candidates with experience in an urban school district are preferred. The ideal candidate will have hands-on training with but not limited to maintaining performance spaces technical theatre expertise in preparation for arts related events as well as supporting the production team. Candidates should be knowledgeable in public relations community outreach and district-based platforms such as Schoology websites and so forth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts High School Principal this job has 4 major categories as follows but not limited to:
Administer Calendar Functions-Development Scheduling Coordinating
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the production/building events calendar which includes coordinating all performance space reservations. Allow for equity cross curricular planning facilitate production meetings for the many events that are planned within the year.
Organize maintain and distribute production postings. Securing Rights and Royalties for major productions. Responsible for publicity advertisements press releases such as playbills posters visual art invitations and ticket sales. Coordinating community relations and partnerships liaison along with reaching out to BPS staff and coordinators to secure audience members for our school-time matinees.
Assist with faculty to coordinate district class or department filed trips. Support faculty with necessary forms dates times bussing and coverage for field trips. Promoting school events and productions through district announcement emails.
Publish a weekly bulletin which outlines the current weeks events and upcoming events. Prepare production space calendar coordination and supervision of all major productions/events special activities or district and community events. Manage all performance spaces from technical needs such as allocating funds for updating equipment equipment maintenance and replacing consumable essentials.
Maintaining the district magnet and community funds allotted to our school programs. Advise and submit appropriate documentation of extracurricular clubs and teams (senior class yearbook music theatre) each year; varies to accommodate our school community.
Ensure employees are trained in the policies and procedures of the performance spaces so that they may appropriately represent the school community and the district. Maintaining high quality and standards of district policies and procedures when coordinating employees who are hired to perform duties work or perform on the Arts Academy Campus. Ensure and oversee Buffalo Public Schools policies and procedures are followed.
Maintain school-based production budget and accounts all production budgetary needs overtime approval security reservations purchase orders field trips securing guest artists extra-curricular bussing. Ability to produce a high caliber production from start to finish. Supporting and collaboration with the technical theatre department to ensure supplies are secured props are available and necessary materials are available.
Recruit hire train schedule and supervise support staff including but not limited to technicians set workers subcontractors and student workers. This includes authorizing and approving all personnel timesheets. Coordinate event staffing security requests building availability and communication with the school engineering staff. At the conclusion of each show a post-production meeting will be conducted and facilitation to gain feedback from each department to help support our next production.
Maintain inventory and equipment condition oversees supply orders. Organize technical equipment recommend specific and secure functional equipment storage locations. Provide technical support to increase the efficacy and safe operations of the facilities.
Implement and maintain communication and coordination with the school faculty staff and community partners to promote school and community activities/events. Carry through and maintains communication and coordination with the school faculty and staff to identify resources and plan for guest artists.
Advise coordinate and supervise special activities productions and events which are held in our building space. Such as but not limited to productions assemblies awards ceremonies and guest artists. Facilitate and supervise facility use by community partners.
Coordinate the technical demands of events as needed by the school community into the overall schedule. This includes providing technical support for school-based programs such as but not limited to; Convocation Class Speakers Assemblies Orientation Nights Departmental Award Ceremonies and High School Graduation Ceremonies.
This position has many hours of preparation and events that fall outside of the regular school operations times. Availability on weekends and evenings is a necessity in order for the school to run appropriately whereas this requires the arts coordinator to be available. Much time is devoted to preparation and managing events during weekend and evening hours.

Appointment will be made by the Superintendent following assessment of training experience credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
