Position Overview:
The High School Head Coach is responsible for leading and managing the overall athletic program. This multifaceted role involves coaching providing guidance and support to students and overseeing the development and execution of the specific sport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coaching:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching program for the assigned sport.
- Plan and conduct regular practices focusing on skill development strategy and team dynamics.
- Provide guidance and motivation to athletes fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
- Attend and coordinate participation in competitions ensuring compliance with school and state regulations.
- Student Advising:
- Serve as an academic and personal adviser to student-athletes promoting their overall well-being and success.
- Monitor and support students academic progress emphasizing the importance of balancing sports and academics.
- Encourage character development sportsmanship and leadership skills among student-athletes.
- Address individual student needs and concerns serving as a mentor and role model.
- Program Development:
- Collaborate with school administration to develop and implement a vision for the athletic program.
- Identify opportunities for program expansion and improvement considering the interests and needs of the student body.
- Organize and supervise various events including fundraisers team-building activities and community outreach programs.
- Team Management:
- Recruit train and supervise assistant coaches and support staff.
- Coordinate team travel equipment and logistical aspects of the program.
- Foster effective communication and teamwork among coaching staff athletes and parents.
- Compliance and Administration:
- Ensure compliance with all school district conference and state policies and regulations.
- Manage budgets allocate resources and coordinate fundraising efforts to support the program.
- Maintain accurate records related to team rosters schedules and other administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in education sports management or a related field preferred.
- Coaching certification and relevant coaching experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of the rules and strategies of the specific sport.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students both academically and athletically.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
