The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that all steel and fabricated components meet the companys and clients quality standards. This includes inspection of raw materials in-process items and finished goods as well as adherence to relevant codes and specifications (e.g. AWS ASME ISO etc.). The Quality Controller will play a key role in minimizing defects supporting continuous improvement and maintaining documentation and traceability.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect raw materials welding processes and finished fabricated products to ensure compliance with specified standards and client requirements.
Monitor production processes and conduct in-process inspections to identify deviations from quality standards.
Interpret engineering drawings welding procedures (WPS) and inspection criteria.
Prepare inspection reports non-conformance reports (NCRs) and maintain detailed quality records.
Verify dimensional accuracy using tools such as micrometers vernier calipers and gauges.
Conduct visual inspections and if certified NDT techniques (e.g. PT MT UT).
Liaise with welding inspectors fabrication supervisors and clients during inspections and audits.
Monitor welding consumables traceability and welders performance.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Ensure compliance with health safety and environmental policies related to quality practices.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
Minimum 35 years of experience in a quality control role within a steel or
heavy fabrication environment.
Familiarity with welding standards and fabrication codes (AWS D1.1 ASME
Section IX ISO 9001 etc.).
Knowledge of NDT methods; certification in PT MT or UT is an added
advantage.
Proficient in the use of inspection instruments and measuring tools.
Strong analytical communication and documentation skills.
Computer literate MS Office report generation digital inspection records

Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Team player with strong collaboration skills.
Sound judgment and decision-making capability in quality-related matters
Required Skills:
Requirements: Minimum educational qualification: 102 (Higher Secondary). Basic proficiency in computer (PC) operations. Valid third-party certification for Safe Gantry Crane and EOT Crane Operations issued by QE or Qatar Steel-HSE approved institutions in compliance with BS ISO 15513:2000 ISO 12480-1 and ISO 9926 standards. Ability to read write and speak English fluently. Minimum of 3years of hands-on experience in gantry crane or equivalent crane operations preferably within the steel industry.
