This is a remote position.
The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for executing day-to-day bookkeeping activities under Controller-defined rules ensuring accuracy consistency and strong documentation practices. This role supports a project-based apparel business as the primary focus with secondary support for a low-volume maintenance entity. The role requires hands-on experience with project-based accounting apparel workflows and disciplined execution within QuickBooks Online.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintain product SKU and variant master data in QuickBooks Online following Controller-defined rules
Create and manage customer invoices purchase orders and vendor bills
Allocate costs accurately across projects SKUs and COGS categories
Maintain project-based revenue and expense tracking to support profitability reporting
Reconcile online store payouts and sales channel reports using clearing accounts
Apply accounts receivable payments accurately and maintain clean AR aging
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
Execute monthly close and prepare Balance Sheet Profit & Loss and AR Aging reports
Maintain complete documentation and audit trails within QuickBooks Online
Identify and flag discrepancies or missing documentation for Controller review
Requirements
Senior-level experience using QuickBooks Online
Strong background in project-based accounting
Apparel or product-based business experience preferred
Proven experience working under a Controller
Cleanup and forensic bookkeeping experience
Strong documentation and audit discipline
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to follow defined accounting rules and processes
No reliance on auto-categorization or AI-based accounting rules
