We are looking for a compassionate and child-centred practitioner who is confident delivering therapeutic support to children and working sensitively with families navigating separation. The ideal candidate will be collaborative organised and reflective in their practice with a strong commitment to trauma-informed care

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification (AQF level 7) in Psychology Social Work Family Therapy or Counselling.

It would be a bonus if you have:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with children.

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse clients.

  • Experience in Family Law and Post Separation.

  • Experience in working with families in crisis or experiencing domestic violence.

  • Understanding of the effects of trauma on children and adults.

What you will be doing

The role of the Childrens Practitioner is to provide direct therapeutic services to children during and after the separation of their parents.More specifically the Childrens Practitioner will provide one to one counselling therapeutic groups and education programs to children. The Childrens Practitioner will be expected to work collaboratively with RASAs other post-separation relationshipeducationand counselling services to develop program methodologies toestablisheffective referral and shared case management strategies and asappropriate to adopt a whole of family approach. A key part of the role will be toestablisheffective referral pathways with external childrens services including mental health schools and social and community programs for young people.
