Job Summary
The Goddard Schoollocated in Bridgeland is looking for a motivated self-starter for a Directors position at our school. A Bachelors degree or higher in Early Childhood Education Child Development or a related field and management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool is required. Candidates must have strong leadership skills excellent communication skills and have a good understanding of age appropriate activities for young children.
previous management experience in a licensed childcare facility or experience managing faculty members orstaff;
the ability to provide effective training to faculty members in performing their responsibilities and complying with all applicable laws regulations and GSI standards;
the ability to perform all of the responsibilities of a director (below);
the ability to interact closely with children at their level;
the ability to supervise children withsight and hearing at all times;
the ability to change childrens diapers or assist in toileting where necessary;
the ability to understand and comply with the franchisees employment policies;
the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel children and parents;
the ability to handle crisis situations including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies;
the ability to comply in all respects with all applicable laws and regulations relating to childcare.
An offer of employment may be madecontingent on the following:
- A current physical examination by a physician including a current tuberculin test or chest x-ray whichmay or may not be required by state regulations or by the franchisee;
- An approved criminal record check as required by state regulations.
- A bachelors degree or higher in early childhood education elementary education orchild development and management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool;
- A bachelors degree or higher in a related field including 18 semester hours of completed coursework including 12 documented hours of completed coursework related to young children from birth to age eight and management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool;
- An associates degree or higher in early childhood education elementary education child development or a related fieldone year(1560 clock hours)of experience ofworking in a licensed childcare center or preschool and one year of management experience;
- An associates degree or higher in a related field including 18 hours of completed coursework related to young children frombirth to age eighttwoyears (3120 clockhours) of experiencein a licensed childcare center or preschooland oneyear of management experience;
- A current CDA or early childhood teaching credentialan additional 12 semester hours of continuing education units in courses related to young children frombirth to age eighttwoyears (3120 documented clock hours) of experience in a licensed childcare center or preschooland oneyear of management experience. Any candidate with 12 hours of completed coursework must present thefranchisee with a written career development plan documenting how and when the remaining six hours of required coursework (ECE or continuing education) will be completed.
- Maintain compliance with GSIs standards;
- Maintain accurate records such as childrens and faculty members filesto meetboth thestates and GSIs requirements;
- Prepare reports as requested by the franchisee;
- Manage classroom scheduling andschedule faculty members;
- Review the employee handbook annually;
- Implement a health program including communication with the Schools healthcare consultant;
- Conduct emergencydrills such as fire tornado and intruder drillsin accordance with GSIs standards and state licensing requirements;
- Maintain a school inventory;
- Contribute to the Directors Corner on Goddard Connect;
- Plan and implement a program for her orhis and the facultys professional growth;
- Prepare periodic reports on the state of the School.
- Operate the School within budget;
- Define a maintenance system for thefaculty;
- Arrange for maintenance and repairs;
- Manage thepayroll budget;
- Manage the petty cash;
- Manage the registration budget;
- Purchase the classroom equipment and indoor and outdoorsupplies;
- Purchase school supplies and snacks.
- Initiate and maintain a positive relationship with the licensing agent oragency;
- Maintain thecurrent licensing documentation;
- Comply with all current licensing regulations.
- Recruit interview hire and manage faculty members;
- Manage faculty members schedules;
- Conduct the faculty orientation;
- Complete 90-day and annual faculty reviews;
- Conduct monthly faculty meetings;
- Develop and maintain a substitute teacher list;
- Maintain accurate faculty files;
- Plan andimplementin-service meetings for faculty members twice a year;
- Plan first aid CPR and any other required training;
- Plan emergency preparedness training.
- Conduct monthly classroom observations;
- Keep abreast of research and development in the field of early childhood development;
- Maintain a resource library at the School;
- Plan andimplement professional development programs;
- Promote active participation in GSU;
- Actively participate in professional organizations conferences and lectures;
- Develop the program and curriculum;
- Conduct classroom ratio checks throughout the day;
- Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum within the context of the local school district;
- Use monthly themes;
- Incorporate GSI curriculum resources;
- Plan and implement a year-round calendar;
- Schedule shared classroom and outdoor space and equipment;
- Plan and implement procedures for maintaining accurate classroom records;
- Provide the faculty with assistance in preparinglesson plans and developing themes;
- Review thelesson plans;
- Review the Daily Activity Reports;
- Review childrens portfolios regularly;
- Ensure that each classroom has an effective management system in place;
- Plan and schedulevisitors and plan and holdactivities;
- Develop and implement a nutritious snack program;
- Develop and implement a transition system;
- Implement a playground safety program;
- Conduct curriculum meetings three times per year.
- Welcome all visitors to the School;
- Answer the telephone using the GSI telephone script;
- Conduct tours according to the GSI tour guidelines;
- Follow through with all prospective customers;
- Enroll new families;
- Develop and maintain customer relations;
- Implement an orientation program for new families;
- Maintain a system of home-school communication such as theDaily Activity Reports andschool newsletter;
- Conduct meetings with parent(s) orlegal guardian(s) when appropriate;
- Support the development and implementation of thefranchisees community outreach activities;
- Organize a student teaching program.
