Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth this Summer were looking to add an Environmental Health and Safety Intern located in our Austin TX site.
Reporting to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager the student will work on technically challenging projects in support of real-time business opportunities while developing skillsets and experiences.
What a typical day looks like:
- Investigating incidents and providing guidance to reduce and prevent incidents from occurring again.
- Performing surveys and other sampling techniques to ensure controls are in place.
- Managing metrics for sustainability and other related certifications such as UL Zero Waste.
- Supporting the EHS team in aligning New Business Opportunities (NBO) with current EHS programs from project level to full production.
- Supporting the EHS team in managing environmental permits i.e. air waste water storm water spill prevention.
- Participating and providing support to the Emergency Response Team organization.
- Interfaces with engineers and facilities personnel on environmental health and safety matters and escalations.
- Working on annual or key review projects such as chemical SDS inventory review of LOTO program or participating in a Small Group Activity (SGA) or Kaizen.
- Student should have reliable transportation as travel between the main Flex site and the Warehouse site will be required in this role
Student qualities were seeking for this internship assignment:
- Junior/Senior student currently pursuing Engineering or Science related degree.
- Enthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Technical background with business-oreinted focus.
- Highly collaborative creative and excellent communication skills.
- Previous internship experience a plus!
Internship Program Requirements:
- Available to start on May 26th and work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
- Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
- 3.0 minimum GPA
