Description of Work
This position is responsible for overseeing statewide planning initiatives/tasks and providing technical assistance with regards to multimodal transportation planning and programming to various internal and external stakeholders throughout the state. Specific areas of responsibility are management of statewide programs and projects assisting with planning initiatives programmatic guidance development coordination with internal and external partners and implementation of activities related to federal and state planning programs initiatives requirements and policies. Key responsibilities may include leading statewide planning tasks and studies supporting strategic planning efforts management and/or conducting special statewide and regional studies conducting technical research projects creation of planning and project development best practices assisting staff in federal funding processes leading public outreach efforts. This position will also assist division staff in the management of programs such as Transportation Demand Management Safe Routes to School and Intercity Bus. This position may also be asked to lead research policy implementation and related tasks; ensure the Division is meeting federal and state programmatic requirements; ensure the Division is on target to meet other metrics identified by the Division; provide guidance to other business units in NCDOT; and describe the work of the Division in public presentations. This employee works under the supervision of the Statewide Planning and Programming Manager in the Planning and Programming Section.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC17 $58613 to $102574
