About this opportunity:
The Property Tax Analyst will support the effective management of property tax obligations through analysis coordination and stakeholder engagement. This role contributes to accurate reporting informed decision-making and compliance across a diverse asset portfolio. The analyst will work closely with internal teams and external partners in a dynamic environment that requires strong analytical skills adaptability and attention to detail.
What youll do:
Review property tax assessments analyze variances against prior years and prepare and file assessment appeals where appropriate.
Manage the annual property tax cycle from receipt of tax notices through validation appeal and payment.
Analyze data to identify trends discrepancies and optimization opportunities.
Support the Request for Information (RFI) process by coordinating with internal stakeholders external consultants and assessment authorities.
Respond to internal and external inquiries related to audits budgeting forecasting future projects acquisitions and divestitures (A&D) and joint venture disputes.
Provide guidance and recommendations related to asset inventory and property classification.
Represent Cenovus in industry associations and committees such as CAPP and CPTA.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable property tax legislation and deadlines
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics accounting or related financial roles.
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or an equivalent field.
Prior experience with property tax accounting or analysis would be considered an asset.
Advanced proficiency in Excel or equivalent data analysis tools.
Comfortable working in complex ambiguous environments with competing priorities.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
