Property Tax Analyst

About this opportunity:

The Property Tax Analyst will support the effective management of property tax obligations through analysis coordination and stakeholder engagement. This role contributes to accurate reporting informed decision-making and compliance across a diverse asset portfolio. The analyst will work closely with internal teams and external partners in a dynamic environment that requires strong analytical skills adaptability and attention to detail.

What youll do:

• Review property tax assessments analyze variances against prior years and prepare and file assessment appeals where appropriate.

• Manage the annual property tax cycle from receipt of tax notices through validation appeal and payment.

• Analyze data to identify trends discrepancies and optimization opportunities.

• Support the Request for Information (RFI) process by coordinating with internal stakeholders external consultants and assessment authorities.

• Respond to internal and external inquiries related to audits budgeting forecasting future projects acquisitions and divestitures (A&D) and joint venture disputes.

• Provide guidance and recommendations related to asset inventory and property classification.

• Represent Cenovus in industry associations and committees such as CAPP and CPTA.

• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable property tax legislation and deadlines

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics accounting or related financial roles.

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or an equivalent field.

• Prior experience with property tax accounting or analysis would be considered an asset.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel or equivalent data analysis tools.

• Comfortable working in complex ambiguous environments with competing priorities.

• Strong organizational and prioritization skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
