Model Based System Engineer
Full time
This position is hybrid located in San Diego CA and typically requires on-site work of 3 days per week (Tues/Wed/Thur).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain system architecture models using SysML and MBSE tools (e.g. Cameo/MagicDraw Rhapsody Enterprise Architect)
- Facilitate the development of Black Box and White Box models in accordance with DoD and NAVWAR standards
- Work closely with program engineering teams to develop questionnaires to identify what data is available for each program that can feed into a model then help match programs with the appropriate MBSE automation tool(s) and enter data into the appropriate MBSE tool.
- Integrate MBSE approaches with traditional systems engineering practices and digital engineering frameworks
- Translate stakeholder requirements into system models and technical specifications
- Participate in or lead technical reviews model-based design efforts and system verification/validation planning
- Collaborate with software hardware and integration teams to align models with implementation and testing
- Support DoD acquisition documentation and milestone reviews (e.g. SRR PDR CDR)
- Ensure models comply with DoD standards (e.g. DoDAF UAF MIL-STD-881 NIST 800-160 Vol 1/2)
- Prepare technical documentation and present modeling results to stakeholders including government clients
- Maintain configuration control of models and support versioning and reuse strategies
Required Qualifications
- Currently holds an active U.S. national security clearance or be able to receive and maintain one. To learn more about the security clearance process please access this link.
- 5 years of experience in systems engineering with at least 2 years in MBSE roles.
- Proficiency in MBSE tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw Rhapsody or Enterprise Architect.
- Experience with Black Box and White Box modeling and development.
- Experience with SysML and formal modeling techniques including Black and White Box Models.
- Familiarity with DoD systems lifecycle (DoDI 5000.02 JCIDS etc.) and C4I engineering processes.
- Experience supporting DoD programs (Army Navy Air Force Space Force or OSD).
- Active Secret clearance required.
- Bachelors in systems engineering Aerospace Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
