Job Summary


Model Based System Engineer

Full time

This position is hybrid located in San Diego CA and typically requires on-site work of 3 days per week (Tues/Wed/Thur).


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system architecture models using SysML and MBSE tools (e.g. Cameo/MagicDraw Rhapsody Enterprise Architect)
  • Facilitate the development of Black Box and White Box models in accordance with DoD and NAVWAR standards
  • Work closely with program engineering teams to develop questionnaires to identify what data is available for each program that can feed into a model then help match programs with the appropriate MBSE automation tool(s) and enter data into the appropriate MBSE tool.
  • Integrate MBSE approaches with traditional systems engineering practices and digital engineering frameworks
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into system models and technical specifications
  • Participate in or lead technical reviews model-based design efforts and system verification/validation planning
  • Collaborate with software hardware and integration teams to align models with implementation and testing
  • Support DoD acquisition documentation and milestone reviews (e.g. SRR PDR CDR)
  • Ensure models comply with DoD standards (e.g. DoDAF UAF MIL-STD-881 NIST 800-160 Vol 1/2)
  • Prepare technical documentation and present modeling results to stakeholders including government clients
  • Maintain configuration control of models and support versioning and reuse strategies



Required Qualifications

  • Currently holds an active U.S. national security clearance or be able to receive and maintain one. To learn more about the security clearance process please access this link.
  • 5 years of experience in systems engineering with at least 2 years in MBSE roles.
  • Proficiency in MBSE tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw Rhapsody or Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience with Black Box and White Box modeling and development.
  • Experience with SysML and formal modeling techniques including Black and White Box Models.
  • Familiarity with DoD systems lifecycle (DoDI 5000.02 JCIDS etc.) and C4I engineering processes.
  • Experience supporting DoD programs (Army Navy Air Force Space Force or OSD).
  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelors in systems engineering Aerospace Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
