What you will be doing:
The Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) a division of the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is seeking an Airport Operations Officer to join our team and help Keep Alaska Moving! The Airport Operations Officer works under the general direction of the Airport Operations Supervisor. The Airport Operations Officer is responsible for monitoring coordinating and directing all daily land side and air side operational activities at the airport to ensure a safe environment for air operations. Extensive knowledge of FAA and TSA regulations security directives advisory circulars and experience in many different disciplines is required of the Airports Operations Officer. Independence and sound judgment is regularly exercised during both routine and emergency operations.

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional experience in aviation management transportation business administration or public administration and/or monitoring coordinating and directing all daily landside and air side airport operational activities subject to FAA TSA state or military rules and regulations.

Other Information

If an incumbent is required to use a firearm to assist in controlling wildlife hazards at the airport he or she must be able to comply with the federal Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1997 (PL 104-208). Any person convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence is ineligible for appointment to a position that requires the use or possession of a firearm or ammunition.

Candidates for this class must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542) which requires fingerprinting and a background check.

Employees are subject to recall.
Employees are required to possess a current Alaska drivers license.
Employees may be required to maintain first aid certification.

Candidates for this position must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with

The successful applicant must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as well as a comprehensive background investigation along with a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment.
