The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.
The ACS Division of Financial Services (DFS) is responsible for supporting planning implementing and monitoring the fiscal functions of the agency in accordance with City State and Federal guidelines. The work of DFS includes managing the ACS budget; submission of monthly claims for revenue; processing of payments to provider agencies and vendors; monitoring the financial health of provider agencies through financial review and audits; maintenance of the ACS bank accounts; centralized oversight of ACS Child Welfare financial eligibility; and data maintenance for financial systems of record.
The Executive unit within DFS monitors 8 departments to ensure agency goals are met. It is responsible for personnel and administrative operations overseeing eight finance departments (Budget Payments Audit Policy CEO SSO Policy Claiming/Revenue).
As an Administration & Operations Graduate Intern you will support our Executive Team in day-to-day operations and contribute to long-term projects aimed at improving employee engagement and organizational effectiveness. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of the operations of a 300 workforce. Additionally as a member of the 2026 ACS Summer Internship Program cohort you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops lunch and learns speaker events NYC government tours and networking opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with documenting policies and processes and reviewing for usability and consistency in efforts to consolidate into a division-wide manual
- Assist with developing templates and processes to ensure smooth communication across departments
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure completion of requests related to agency/divisional goals
- Support the Chief of Staff and Executive Director of Operations with personnel and administrative projects and assist with special projects
- Help organize and coordinate events and workshops

- Develop skills in managing employee relations and understanding HR compliance
- Enhance abilities in coordinating and executing organizational tasks and events
