The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration Health Services Rehabilitation & Reentry Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!
Description of Work
This is a specialized position that provides information advice and services in the areas of employee time entry and payroll review at the division level and will experience expanded opportunities and a potential leadership role.
Position will assist with current and routine time administration issues and who is also ready to participate in division level processes and decision making.
Position will utilize the existing HR Integrated System (formerly Beacon) to research issues problem solve and perform occasional time entry.
Position will be assigned to special time and pay initiatives for our prison facility staff where directives can be complicated and technical.
Position is required to thoroughly learn and understand these directives and serve as a subject matter expert to division management region administrative staff facility administrative staff and employees.
Management will work closely with this position to make certain directives meet our business needs.
Position will also routinely provide time and leave reports to management and analyze areas that need attention.
As part of the Administrative Services HR Section this position will perform special time entry functions for a small number of employees each month typically related to Leave of Absence periods.
Position is required to maintain appropriate records and documentation following standard HR records retention schedules.

Salary Grade Range: $32639.00 - $57117.00

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
- Documented knowledge and/or experience in FIORI using SAP/GUI
- Demonstrated experience with Human Resource
- Documented experience in a computer skill using Excel MS Word Outlook and/or similar systems
