MalaceHR is seeking a Facilities & Building Maintenance Technician to support operations at a commercial research and development facility. This is an entry-level maintenance role ideal for candidates with 13 years of facilities or building maintenance experience who are looking to grow their skills in a professional environment.
The technician will assist with the maintenance and operation of building systems including HVAC plumbing electrical and general facility infrastructure. This position offers hands-on experience working alongside senior technicians while performing routine maintenance troubleshooting building issues and ensuring the facility remains safe functional and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance & Support
Perform routine building inspections and maintenance rounds.
Assist with preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment lighting systems and building infrastructure.
Complete general facility maintenance including minor plumbing electrical and carpentry repairs.
Support maintenance of facility safety equipment such as emergency eyewash stations and other building safety systems.
Work Orders & Documentation
Complete work orders and maintenance logs accurately in the CMMS system.
Assist with inventory tracking and parts procurement.
Document completed maintenance activities including materials used and time spent.
Maintain organized storage areas for tools equipment and maintenance supplies.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices.
Adhere to facility safety standards and operational procedures.
Participate in required safety training and emergency response drills.
Identify and report safety hazards or potential issues immediately.
Learning & Development
Work closely with experienced technicians to develop technical maintenance skills.
Participate in training programs related to building systems and facility operations.
Continue developing knowledge of facility maintenance best practices.

Basic troubleshooting skills in mechanical electrical and building systems
Familiarity with hand tools and basic maintenance equipment
Basic computer skills for work order systems and documentation
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Willingness to learn and develop technical maintenance skills
Certifications (Preferred but Not Required)
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Comfortable working in mechanical rooms facility spaces and outdoor areas
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights with proper safety equipment
Capable of standing walking climbing ladders/stairs kneeling and bending for extended periods
Manual dexterity required for detailed maintenance tasks
Work Environment
Full-time position with standard first-shift hours
Work performed in facility laboratory mechanical and utility areas
Occasional overtime may be required for facility needs
Periodic on-call support may be required for building operations
