Description of Work

Reporting to the HVAC Supervisor this position is primarily responsible for providing journey level work in the areas of Heating/Air Conditioning Refrigeration Hot Water Supply Plumbing and Food Service Equipment at a multi-custody female correctional facility. Other responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

1. Completing special repairs and assignments that are received by work orders from authorized personnel.
2. Identifying the cause of a problem and determining materials and tools and method of repair.
3. Carrying out repair procedures independently on most jobs.
4. Performing preventative maintenance functions as required and outlined in the preventative maintenance plans.
5. Training and/or supervising the work of offender workers as needed.

(Salary Range: $37782 - $66120)

This is afull-time position(40 hours per week) withState Benefitswith established working hours ofMonday-Friday 7am-3:30pmand may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

The salary grade for this position is NC08. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.

About Anson Correctional Institution:
Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational vocational and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and three years of progressive experience in the installation maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers air handling chilled water distribution and control systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications: Requires current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations part 82 subpart F.
