The North Carolina State Highway Patrols primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1600 troopers who cover nearly 80000 miles of North Carolina roadways more than any other state except addition to enforcing the states traffic laws state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur. Description of Work

The NC State Capitol Police is seeking motivated community-minded individuals interested in a law-enforcement career to apply for our Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Cadet. This is an excellent opportunity for dedicated candidates who want to serve and protect the State Government complex while gaining high-quality training and a strong foundation for a long-term career in policing.

About the Cadet Program

Candidates selected for cadet position will receive:

  • Full tuition and fees paid for Basic Law Enforcement Training

  • Required equipment and materials provided

  • Professional support and guidance throughout the academy experience

Duties After Certification

Upon successful completion of BLET graduates will serve as State Capitol Police Officers responsible for:

  • Patrol and security of state government buildings and grounds

  • Response to calls for service and emergencies

  • Traffic and pedestrian safety enforcement

  • Community engagement and public-service duties

  • Supporting state officials employees and visitors

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma. Necessary Special Qualifications

complete all requirements for an NC Probationary Law Enforcement Certification including completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission within one year of employment.

2. Must be at least 20 years of age.

3. Possession of a valid NC Drivers License by start date of BLET class.

4. Have no felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors.
