Upper School Biology Teacher Friends Select School seeks a passionate and engaging full-time Upper School Biology Teacher for the 2026-27 school year to teach three sections of 11th grade biology and one section of Advanced Biology. This individual will integrate and model Quaker values and principles in the daily life teaching and learning of the upper school and should enjoy working collaboratively with the school community of students faculty and parents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and implement a challenging developmentally appropriate values-driven curriculum that is engaging real-world connected and responsive to students strengths and interests
Develop engaging and relevant science lessons including hands-on laboratory-based activities
Foster an inclusive collaborative learning environment for all students
Collaborate with a team of upper school teachers and science department members
Integrate technology into daily classroom instruction and activities
Consult with the Director of City Curriculum to cultivate relationships with city institutions to enhance coursework
Participate actively in upper school life including student clubs committees and other activities
Advise of group of 10-12 students
Model life-long learning by staying current with materials and methodology
Recognize diversity in all of its forms when planning curriculum and providing materials
Provide timely clear constructive and authentic assessment of student progress
Initiate support of other teachers the director the dean and/or support personnel when a student is experiencing academic or personal challenges
Supervise students during the course of the school day and when attending extra-curricular and co-curricular student events
Qualifications:
Experience with upper school biology teaching
At minimum a Bachelors degree in a related field Masters preferred
Commitment to Quaker values anti-racism and social justice
Experience and proficiency with online learning tools
