You willprovide technical assistance topro bonolaw firmattorneyswhoare representing clientsin removal proceedingspursuingasylumaffirmativelythrough USCIS pursuing Special Immigrant Juvenile Status(SIJS)filing asylum and SIJS-based adjustment of status applicationssecuring and renewing work authorization for their clientsfiling asylee family petitions and other topics relating toimmigration relief and willwork collaboratively with LCCRSFsnetwork ofpro bonoattorneys toprovide high-qualityfull-scoperepresentation to immigrants in removal will support ourcoalition-based effort to provide rapid responsesupport in San Francisco and San MateoandAttorney-of-the-Day services in San positionmayalsoparticipatein the developmentand deliveryof training materialsandresources to supportpro bonorepresentation in removal proceedings affirmative asylumcasesandotheraffirmative applications for immigration relief and benefits.

Your Work
- Training and mentorship-Provide training technicalassistance and mentorship topro bonoattorneys handlingremoval defenseSpecial Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)applications forasylumand other forms of humanitarian relief. Developand/or collect and organizetraining materials practice advisories andother resourcesfor thePro Bono at Lunch and Learntrainingswith law firm partners andassistwith the organization and delivery of the Annual Asylum Law Seminar and other pro se clinics LCCRSF may hold for the community.
- RepresentationRepresentnon-detained immigrants withcases pending beforetheExecutiveOffice forImmigrationReview(EOIR)and UnitedStatesCitizenship &ImmigrationServices (USCIS).Manage a docket of direct services cases in various stages of representation includingcommunicating withclientsregardingtheir pending cases responding to notices or requests fromthe court andUSCIS filing changeof addressforms work permit applications and affirmative applications for relief with and represent non-detained immigrants at Master Calendar and Merit Hearings before San Francisco and Concord Immigration Court.
- Supervision Potentially supervise fellows law clerks externs and/orvolunteersby providing training mentorship and feedback to promote professional volunteers on discrete projects as needed.
- Data Integrity and Case Management Input data consistently into LegalServer to ensure that work is being tracked in LCCRSFs centralized database. Participate in the auditing of LegalServer data for reporting and case management purposes. Manage and organize assigned physical files including filing mail into the folders and ensuring that itcontainsan accuratesnapshotofcasestatus.
- RapidResponseUrgent Consultationsand Attorney of the Day Participate in coalition-based rapid response network forindividualsinneedby staffingthe rapid response hotline providingAttorney-of-the-Day(AOD)services atimmigrationcourtand completingurgent consultations as neededto fulfill grant requirements.Must be willing to come totheLCCRSF office when staffingeither Attorney of the Day or Rapid Response on the weekdays.
- Rapid response - Participate in coalition-based rapid response network for clients in need in San Francisco by occasionally staffing rapid response hotline. Provide Attorney-of-the-Day (AOD) services at immigration court (must be eligible to serve as AOD). Must be willing to come toLCCRSFoffice when staffing rapid response hotline.
- Other tasks may be assigned as needed by the Program Director Immigrant Justice.
Essential Qualifications
- J.D. and a member in good standing of any state bar (*California strongly preferred; if not admitted to the California bar willingness and eligibility to apply for California multijurisdictional practice as a Registered Legal Aid Attorney promptly upon hire).
- Minimumoftwoyearsof experience working as an immigration attorney with low-income communities and/or recent survivors of trauma.
- Fluency in Spanish including the ability to communicatein Spanishwithclientsabout legal matters andcorrespond in writing with clients in Spanish.
- Experience with affirmative applicationsbefore USCISincludingwork authorization applicationsasylee relative petitionsandadjustment ofstatus applications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational communication analytical writing and editing skills; strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a member of ateam to set and carry outobjectivesand prioritize workflow with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse groups of individuals including representatives of government the private bar and grassroots organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experiencerepresentingasylum seekers in removal proceedings.
- Experiencerepresentingchildren and families in guardianshipparentageand child custody proceedingsin Northern California as well as experience filingSpecial Immigration Juvenile Statuspetitionsbefore USCIS.
- Experience mentoring training and/or working collaboratively withpro bono
