Dental Hygienist (Contract) Pawnee OK
Pay Rate:$40.00$45.00 per hour based on experience
Contract Length: 520 hours total approximately 36 months with potential extension up to 12 months or go full-time
Schedule: MondayFriday 8:00 AM4:30 PM 30-minute lunch
Start Date: ASAP following credentialing
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Dental Hygienist to support a high-volume clinical environment providing preventive periodontal and patient education services. This contract role focuses on direct patient care education and support of clinical quality initiatives within a structured healthcare setting. The ideal candidate is efficient patient-focused and comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with dental providers and clinic staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide educational and therapeutic preventive periodontal services through direct patient interaction
- Perform routine dental prophylaxis as assigned
- Deliver patient education to individuals parents and guardians regarding oral health disease prevention and proper oral hygiene techniques
- Perform age-appropriate periodontal and preventive services including
- Root planing
- Curettage
- Periodontal charting and diagnostic procedures including radiographs
- Coronal polishing
- Sealant placement
- Fluoride varnish application
- Oral health education
- Administer local anesthetic under the supervision of a staff dentist
- Process and manage digital radiographs
- Assist with oral examinations for recall patients as time and workload permit
- Sharpen maintain clean and store dental instruments and equipment
- Clean and maintain the dental unit at the end of each workday
- Restock operatory supplies daily to ensure readiness for patient care
Schedule and Productivity Expectations
- Eight-hour clinic days typically 8:00 AM4:30 PM
- Expected to see a minimum of eight patients per clinic day
- Partial days may be scheduled with prorated pay based on clinic needs
- Maintain efficient time management and adherence to infection control protocols
Compliance and Professional Standards
- Adhere to all clinic Indian Health Services and DHHS policies and procedures
- Meet established standards of professional conduct
- Support clinic quality initiatives and assist in meeting dental performance and reporting goals
- Refrain from personal business during clinic hours
Required Qualifications
- Active Dental Hygienist license in good standing
- Experience providing periodontal and preventive dental services in a clinical setting
- Proficiency with digital radiography and dental charting
- Strong patient education and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative care team
- Willingness to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements prior to start
