Position Summary: Reporting into the Quality Manager the Quality Engineer will assure the quality of finished good and first article/PPAP packages in preparation for shipping to customers. Act as a Champion and participate in customer supplier and internal corrective action process continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to the responsibilities outlined in the Quality Management System.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain inspection methods and reports including CMM programs.
- Ensure compliance to customer and company standards and specifications
- Monitoring the quality of incoming materials entering the plant and finished products leaving the plant to detect any problems
- Dimensional evaluation of parts using appropriate equipment gauges and fixtures. Ensure that equipment is properly calibrated prior to use.
- Monitor process product and quality system performance in accordance with the applicable product standard and procedures. Report any concerns through the Corrective Action process.
- Identify areas for quality improvement and implement new methods accordingly
- Support all departments in dimensional data collection
- Prepare and maintain test data
- Evaluate data and draft reports noting any relevant deviations from existing standards
- Compile PPAP / First Article submissions on assigned programs.
- Participating in research and development projects to improve manufacturing processes for new products.
- Train operators and quality inspectors to perform in-process and final inspections.
- Participate as required in cross functional team activities including the APQP process to ensure.
- Feasibility of the design and process to produce the product specifications.
- Address any quality issues including GD&T gauge design testing requirements and timing capability study requirements and timing applied statistical methods and Advanced Quality Plans (such as prototype pre-launch production control plans and Inspection & Test Plans etc.).
- Determining customer requirements on assigned programs and obtaining acceptance and limit samples. Responsible for communicating customer requirements and standards within the organization
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
- University degree and/or post-secondary education in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a quality related function
- Good knowledge of fundamentals principles and management of quality functions within the scope of Arrow.
- Good planning organizational and communication skills
- Good knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and other quality assurance techniques
- Must have experience in quality related auditing processes
- Experience with ASME Section VIII and Section IX Welding
- Weld Inspection to ASME or equivalent
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office shipping/ receiving software and internally developed Quality Assurance software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and conduct first article inspections (FAIR).
- Ability to convert between metric to imperial units.
