Description of Work

The Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (JFKADATC) in Black Mountain is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary care team. In this role you will provide essential clinical services for our patients including comprehensive assessments case management discharge planning crisis intervention and both individual and group therapy. You will play a key part in supporting individuals on their recovery journey and helping them build healthier futures.

Recruitment Range: $50633.00 - $88607.00

*A Sign-on bonus of $5000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

  • Documented experience building and developing rapport with persons and families evaluating a patients risk of dangerousness and applying appropriate interventions based on a thorough assessment and treatment plan.

  • Facilitation/Collaboration in the development and implementation of patient centered treatment/care plans within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Documented experience working with other disciplines and/or agencies.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with community agencies and work independently be self-motivated and organized.

  • Must be able to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

This full-time position follows a TuesdaySaturday schedule typically 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and offers the stability of a 40-hour work week with no on-call responsibilities. Caseloads are shared across a highly collaborative nine-member team promoting balance and support.

*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.


An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government including the judicial system or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)

  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency

  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

About the Facility:

JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

    Masters degree from an appropriately accredited school of social work. Licensure is required from NC SW Certification and Licensure Board. Necessary Special Qualification Requirements - One must fulfill all requirements for Licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.
